SUBMITTED WRITTEN TESTIMONY -APRIL 12, 2005
Continually we hear of proposed development here in West Hawaii. And
continually we hear complaints of people regarding our crowded conditions on our
roads. But our complaints aze not baseless.
Please, Councilmembers, listen to the people of Kona. As has been suggested
previously practice smart development -infrastructure first. We are so seriously
impacted with traffic and poor road conditions that these must be fixed first before
more development is allowed.
As individuals, you aze elected to represent your districts, but as a council, you are
elected to represent the entire island. And we wonder, do you listen to us, read
our letters to the editors and take them into consideration, pay any attention to our
statements regazding our deteriorating condition here? Many of us feel that
voicing our concerns to you aze futile. We even read some statements that sound
flippant regarding our problems.
These developments which are the subject of tonight's public hearing will
contribute tremendously to our traffic problems. Until we have four lane roads,
we simply cannot handle anymore growth.
