Aloha. My name is Ku Kahakalau and my family and I are residents of Kukuihael..
located right above Waipi'o Valley in Ham~kua.
I am testifying i.n strong support of Bill 80, which would prevent future subdivisions
that are not really agricultural from being built on agricultural land, unless they ;ne
rezoned.
Far the past decade, we have watched in horror as developers continue to subdi ~ ode
agricultural land for speculators in our district of Ham5kua. This bill would rciyu re
these devclopers to seek reza~ing via a public process, rather than just procuring
subdivision approval, which is done behind closed doors for non-agricultural prolecta cn
agricultural land.
Unless measurements are put in place that prevent unabated development. prett;J soot
no kama'aina will be able to afford to live in our ancestral lands anymore. Plsase
support Bill 80.
