Dear ladies and gentlemen of the County Council: -
I would like to express my sincere gratitude that you have decided to reconsider Bills 78 and
79 which would establish a land protection fund for Hawaii County.
As you are probably aware, Maui and Kauai voters established land funds in 2002 with an
overwhelming 73% approval vote and polls show that 70% of Hawaii County voters support
the creation of a Land Protection Fund here. Approval of these 2 bills would protect our
economy and our beautiful coastal lands, forests, and historic Hawaiian sites for our children
and grandchildren.
