Subject: Re: Testimony on Bill 78 - in favor
Aloha members of the Hawaii County Council, Mayor Kim, and Planning
Director Yuen,
I am writing tc testify in favor of Bill 78. y
_
I fully support establishment of a land protection fund for Hawaii _ - _
County, and I support doing so by using a 2% dedication of current
County real property tax revenue for land protection.
It makes excellent sense to use revenue from privatization of land to
fund acquisition of public land.
As excessive and excessively rapid development increasingly overwhelm
the best of our best lands, this is an essential step to help save as -
much as passible of what is left for the public good. `
Similar measures have worked well on other islands in Hawaii, and will
work well here also.
Please vote to pass Bill 78.
mahalo,
