Page 1 of 1 <br /> From: Gay Barfield [okika@aloha.net] <br /> Sent: Sunday, April 17, 2005 2:05 PM <br /> To: Jacobson, Bob <br /> Subject: Support for Legislation <br /> Dear Council members and Mayor Kim - <br /> We ask that you support the passage of Bill 79 and 80 to prevent the mis-use and mis-designation of land as <br /> agricultural when it is really to be used for other purposes that are often not known about fully in advance until it <br /> becomes a fact. <br /> We ask that you support these bills financially as well to assure this issue is monitored carefully in the future, so <br /> that our beautiful island maintains its rapidly disappearing open space, and does not become increasingly the <br /> place for speculators and developers who may not have the best interest at heart in the land and its people. <br /> Particularly important is that land be appropriately labeled and used for the benefit of less financially endowed <br /> people in our community, not those who are more interested in excessive profit for their own interests, aver- <br /> inflating property pricesso that they are available for purchase or use only by the rich, not to the ordinary farmer or <br /> households in need of homes and farms to survive and thrive, and thus contribute to our economy in a just way. <br /> Thank you for voting for these important Bills.
