I support, unequivocally, Bills 78, 79, and 80 that the County is considering April
19. These bills are so obviously
in the public interest, no County official could convincingly justify opposing them.
Dedicating 2% of property taxes to retire the proposed $10 million bond needed to
preserve Public Access, open
Space and our Natural Resources is a small price to pay so that EVERYONE can enjoy
what still remains of
this island's natural beauty.
Allowing subdivisions of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes, degrading
further this once pristine land
that abundantly fed all who lived here, profoundly violates our modern needs and
values. Many more benefit from
growing food for Islanders and export than for using this life-sustaining, shrinking
resource for building exclusive
communities and golf courses.
