In the more than 15 years that I have known Bill, he has consistently conducted himself with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. He works extremely hard to fulfill his responsibilities and, more importantly, strives to produce the result that will ultimately best benefit our society. Similarly, as a neighbor in Volcano for those many years, Bill clearly understands and demonstrates his commitment to our Big Island community by having served in leadership positions with the Volcano Community Association, the Neighborhood Watch Program and other civic improvement organizations. He is, without question, dedicated to serving the public in his professional career and within the community in which he lives. On a personal level, Bill is a dear and close family friend to my entire family. We all trust him without hesitation, willingly seek him out for counsel and advice and truly appreciate his terrific sense of humor. Chairman Higa and Councilmembers, it is for these reasons that I unequivocally support the appointment of Mr. William Smith to the Deputy Clerk post and humbly request your confirmation. Mahalo for your consideration. Si~ rely, RGGussell S. Kokubun Senator, Second District Comm. Ho. 1 Ref. To: P ~u Ref. Uate
