Dear Chairman Higa and Members of the County Council:
I am writing to offer my support for the confirmation of Mr. William Smith to the
position of Legislative Auditor for the County of Hawaii.
I have known Mr. Smith for approximately 13 years, having worked with him at the
Family Court in my position as a Family Court probation officer. As the Deputy
Prosecuting Attorney assigned to Family Court, Mr. Smith and I conferred on numerous
cases on a weekly basis and worked together in the coumoom to provide accurate
information and appropriate recommendations to the Family Court Judge. He has always
demonstrated efficiency, support, fairness and a comprehensive knowledge of the law,
sharing his expertise with the utmost integrity. He was always well prepared and willing
to assist me and my colleagues in regards to the many functions and responsibilities of
Family Court Probation.
Mr. Smith is intelligent, loyal, fair and professional in his duties and I believe he will be a
great asset to our County government. I am gratefiil for the opportunity to have worked
with, and learned from him, and he will be greatly missed at the Family Court Probation
office.
