Subject: BILL 78 - 2% of PPTY TX REV for Lanci Protection Fund
Dear County Council Members,
I am uncomfortable with taking 2% from property tax revenues to fund the Land
Protection Fund (LPF) annually partly because the county never seems to have
enough money to provide the services needed by the public (more sewer lines???
or fix all the deep pukes caused by runoff in the County setback on Royal Poinciana
Drive and partly because we seem to want to purchase these lands in a
sellers' market when land prices are severely inflated. If you can figure out
a simultaneous way (moratorium on zoning changes and permit approvals?) to
bring market prices down and curb land speculation so that we can buy land at a
reasonable price for the LPF then I would feel better about allocating some of our
ppty tax revenues (like 1%?) toward the LPF for starters. We also need to be sure
that the county can provide the services that are needed.
