Re: West Hawaii Development
Dear Mr. Higa,
We understand that there will be a Planning Committee Meeting on May 7,
addressing the issue of building 350 h using units as well as a shopping center in the
area south of Pottery Terrace, betwee the Queen K Highway ajnd Kuakini Highway.
As full-time residents and taxpayers, we are vehemently opposed to the addition of
this or any other development to the ailua-Kona area and the impact it will have on
our already overcrowded roadways. a oppose such uncontrolled growth until such
time as county authorities have addr ssed and dealt with the lack of infrastructure
and all related problems we already ave. Thos project could i,bring at least another
700 vehicles to our neighboring road and we feel this wouldi be reason enough to
terminate this particular project. Our riorities should be our school system, medical
services, law enforcement and transp nation - IVOT satisfying the needs of mainland
developers here to rape our island for their profit.
We need to take a moratorium appro ch to building in Kona aind work to implement
solutions to all existing problems be ore we consider adding ',to those problems by
uncontrolled growth and e~panSlon, r county council needs ~o step up the plate by
listening to the citizens of West Haw ii. We beg your attention to this very urgent
matter and ask that you work agaiins this project and development at this time.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
C~
