As you may know, the Hawaii Island Section of the American Instii:utc~ of
Architects (A.LA) have been communicating with the County since 2oc73 on

adoption of the 1997 Uniform Building Code, which we support,
The A-I-A had some concerns and reservations with the new code
provisions, so, we met with the Mayor, the Department of Public wn -ks
and Council members Pilago and Isbell to discuss these particular items.
we have recently downloaded the new code provisions from the C:our.t.y
website and also found that the next Committee meeting will be t~_~mo~ rew,
We apologize that we did not keep better watch on the introductio ~ of this
bill. We would appreciate a bit more review time.
Please provide us a date and a time for your next scheduled mee~_iny where
the Hawaii Island Section of the A.LA can voice their opinions on certain
amendment issues.
