Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 75-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 75-05, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 75 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 203, dated April 6, 2005, authorizes the Office of the
Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic
Development and Tourism for the Big Island Biodiesel Industry Project grant.
The State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism has
authorized a $10,000 grant to the Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste
Division to conduct services related to education and outreach to support a biodiesel industry o?
the Big Island.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Ilawai`i Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent
of the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State Governments respecting action
to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 75-OS
and recommends its adoption.
