I)ircctor of Public Works, amends the hawai'i County Code 1983 (1995 Edition). Chapter 24.

l~hc purpose of Bill R4 is to convert a portion of Sarona Road from one-w'ay to two-wa} traffic and
prohibit left turns at Kuakini highway. phis change is necessary because a driveway scrcing Kuakini
Touters will be rcnuwcd. Council Member Dr. Fred holschuh asked for clarification on the location
of the driecwav that is to he rcmovcd. Director of Public Works Bruce McClure responded that the
dri~e~lav v`as located on the makai (ocean) side of McDonald's Restaurant. Council Member
K.:~ngcl I'ilago .vas pleased that the proposed changes on Sarona Road would tic in with the
improvements on Kuakini I Iighwa}~.
Your Committee on I'uhlic Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the intent and
purpose of Bill 84 and recommends it pass first reading.
