Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 234, reports as follows:
Communication No. 234, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
April 19, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of various donations.
Monetary donations totaling $2,218 to the Department of Parks and Recreation is to be used for
the care of the squirrel monkeys that reside in the South American exhibit at the Pana`ewa
Rainforest 700. Donations came from Ann Staggemeier ($10), Mary Katherine Carlstead ($55),
1?nviroWatch, Ina ($20), Patricia Shields ($20), and various individuals ($2,113).
Kandi's Drive Inn, Inc. and Mr. Wayne Fukunaga of Fukunaga Electrical has graciously donated
$100 each to the Department of Parks and Recreation to cover expenses of the Recreation
Divisions Annual Biggest Easter Egg Hunt.
West Hawaii [nterGroup has graciously donated $50 to the Department of Parks and Recreation
to be used towards programs at the Waimea Community Center.
W.H. Shipman has graciously donated $60 to the Department of Parks & Recreation, to be used
towards programs at the Mt. View Gym.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the following to acknowledge these generous donations:
