Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which authorizes
the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code, which states that any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance
shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the
following donations:
A portable tent (total estimated value of $139.00) to the Hawaii County Police Department;
for general use by the Department; by Trace Evidence, Attention: Lawrence Schiller,
Executive Producer, Production Office, 7018 Owensmouth Avenue, Suite 104, Canoga Park,
CA 91303.
A library of educational materials, including books, videotapes, audiotapes, and CDs (total
estimated value of $500.00) to the Hawaii County Police Department; in appreciation to the
Department and Officer Wiliam Derr and to fulfull the Department's continuing educational
needs in the area of health risk management; by Dr. Leonard G. Horowitz, D.M.D., M.A.,
M.P.H., Steam Vent Inn & Health Retreat, 13-3775 Kalapana Highway, Pahoa, Hawaii 96778.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donors.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.
