Oda I would like to state my support for Bill 103, naming the playground area at Lin- coln Park in honor of Dr. Ruth E. Oda. If is not too often that you come across someone that has a sincere dedication to their profession and to the families that they come in contact with. ' I'm talking about someone that will put your needs first before thinking about ,oneself and being available to help others at all hours of the day and night. In speck, I am speaking of the late Dr. Ruth E. Oda. I myseff was a patient of Dr. Oda and I still remember her humming a tune as she gently cared for me. And she did the same with pny son. Her singing had a way of soothing both the patient and the parent and she always made time to ask about how the family was doing before heading out the door to the next patient. This is exceptional to the normal since Dr. Oda always had a full day of patients to tend to. And even so, she never made you feel rushed, no matter how busy she was. Dr. Oda was also anc advocate for all members of the eommunffy and not only for children. She volunteered countless hours the help various organizations in our County and gave unselfishly of her time, even with her busy pediatric prac- tice. It's not very often that you come across an individual that is willing to dedi- cate their own personal time for the sake of others. But that was Dr. Oda's style. She always put her patients and the community first, before herse~f. I personally don't know of many individuals that have sacrificed as much as stye has. ZS 1 Comm. No. i Ref. To: Pro+aMe/ ~ R;,f. It would be an honor to her legacy of care to the rnuntless families that she has cared for throughout her career. Further, it would be an noble gesture on the part of the County to recognize such a devoted com- munity member. " Respectfully submitte~~d~~, ~ Marsha Lee Hokama 2
