To the Hawaii County Council, _
My name is Christina Eiko Keolaokalani Parlin and I am 10 years old and~f think
you should name the playground after Dr. Oda. When I was born, my pazents asked Dr.
Oda if they could name me after her because they wanted me to just like her, smart,
funny, dedicated, and to always be singing.
Playgrounds aze very important to kids and so aze their doctors. Playgrounds are
places kids can go to have fun, exercise, and to just be a kid. Doctors have to make sure
that they keep children well enough so they have fun and can be a kid and they encourage
us to exercise. It makes sense that the Lincoln Pazk Playground is to be named after Dr.
Oda.
I wish I had more memories of her. I didn't know her as well as my parents and
grandparents. Every time I say my full name I think of her. And if you name the
playground after her, every time we go to Hilo, we'll go the playground a remember her
and her importance in our lives.
