Dear Mr. Tom Brown,
We, the Taxi Cab Operators of East Hawaii would like to submit this letter
as testimony to the specified items on the agenda of the Sept. 26, 1997 meeting
of the Transportation Commission.
Pursuant to section 18-32 C- Hawaii County Code -Certificate of
Public Convenience and Necessity: "Any other interested parties may also
appear and testify or submit written testimony either in favor of or against the
issuance of the certificate".
We are asking that this letter and the names of the endorsers be read a loud
so that it will be recorded into the minutes of this meeting. Your utmost
consideration to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo!

RE: VII New business, B-3 Review taxicab application for 1Yew certificate of Public
Convenience and Necessity on the agenda of the Sept. 26, 1997 Transportation Commission
meeting. *Louis E. Eaton and Tammy Hakalekai, DBA Percy's VI.
We, the undersigned taxicab operators of East Hawaii, would like to respectfully
convey to this commission that there is currently a serious oversupply of taxicabs operating
in East Hawaii.
Even with their five (5) cabs, Percy's taxi's are often in line and waiting for their tum
for a fare from the Hilo airport. We feel granting them another certificate would only add to
the existing oversupply of taxis in East Hawaii. ,
Therefore we are asking the commission to deny this application.
We, the undersigned taxicab operators of East Hawaii, would have attended this
meeting, but due to the cruise ship "Le,g~d of the Seas" porting in Hilo Harbor also on Sept.
26, 1997. This will possibly be the busiest the year for the taxi industry in East Hawaii!
Your utmost consideration to this "Over supply of Taxis" matter would be greatly
appreciated.
