Subject: Bill 78
One more opinion on Bill 78:
We need to take action on funding acquisition of public lands NOW. The
County should have done this 20 years ago; if we wait much longer what land
there is left will be too expensive for the County to purchase.
So, I don't care if it is Bill 78 or some other means, as long as it doesn't -
get discussed, studied, revised, and debated for more months.
And, I don't believe that 2% of all property tax collected: is an excessive
amount to set aside. If the Charter prohibits use of property taxes for
this purpose, please find some other means to GUARANTEE that an equivalent
annual amount will be used exclusively for acquisition of conservation - ,
lands, and do it NOW. This is too important ±o leave to chance.
Mahalo for your hard work and concern,
