My name is Sue Aronson and am here tbday to support Bill 78 to set aside 2% of real
property tax revenue for a dedicated land protection fund on the Island of Hawaii.
I have lived here for the past 27 yeazs apd have been in real estate for 23 yeazs. I believe
that the increase of values of property here is due to the ever increasing international
demand for what this island has to offerl which is mainly our weather, accessibility,
pristine natural resources, open space and the friendliness of our island residents. As we
continue to develop our landscape we need to ensure for the protection of our open space
and historical areas.
The income stream from property taxes is the necessazy funding mechanism that will
create a permanent legacy of open space for future generations. Real property continues
to rise in value and we need to implement this funding now.
Our communities desperately needs this bill to be passed and be supported by our county
council and Mayor. Mahalo to all of yqu for your participation in this process.
