Hawaii County has a serious problem regarding the eminent closure of the Hilo landfill and the transporting of East Hawaii business waste to the Puanahulu Landfill. The reload facility would provide an opportunity for trash separation for reuse, recycling and then the remainder would be transported to the West Hawaii. facility. A minimized load would allow businesses to ship less refuse to the West side. With fossil fuels at an all time high, and the increased amount of global warming gasses which will be produced from atwo-hour commute, the County needs to be pro-active ,look at this option and approve this option. No one has really looked at the environmental impact of the increased amounts of fossil fuel emissions and how they will impact the air quality of our beautiful island. The congestion problems in North Kona are already being realized. Let's not add to this problem by putting more diesel burning rubbish trucks on this roadway. Many small rubbish services may also be forced to upgrade their vehicles or be put out of business. The Moku Loa Group, Sierra Club encourages the passage of this bill for a Hawaii County Reload facility for East Hawaii.
