SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
JAMES KEALOHA PARK ACCESS ROAD
Proposed No Parking Zones -
Ref. Comm. 299 (Bill 85)
The Hawaii Police Department requests the existing no pazking zone along the rock wall at the entrance to
James Kealoha Pazk be extended to the end of the wall on the Hilo side. They also request parking be
restricted along [he second rock wall located on the Hilo side. They also request parking be restricted along
the second rock wall located on the Hilo side of James Kealoha Park.
We investigated this request and concur with the Police Departments recommendations; the roadway at
these locations is not wide enough to accommodate parked cars. The Department of Parks and Recreation
has also been informed and they support this proposal.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 1Q, Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (No Parking at
Anytime) under the Hilo be amended as described in the attached draft for an ordinance.
Under separate cover, we are transmitting the proposed ordinance to the Public Works Committee Chair for
introduction.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you have any
