COUNTY OF HAWAII ` STATE OF HAWAII ~ Oi:M''.~1 RESOLUTION NO. 132 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) FROM THE HAWAII COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR THE NA LEO O NA `OPIO YOUTH ACTION SUMMIT WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Comprehensive Strategy for Juvenile Justice, or as it is widely known, "Youth Builders", is an organized plan for communities to deal effectively with juvenile delinquency; and WHEREAS, Na Leo O Na `Opio (The Voices of the Youth) is the youth component of the Youth Builders initiative; and WHEREAS, each year the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney sponsors a Na Leo O Na 'Opio Youth Action Summit where students from high schools throughout the island are provided leadership and team building training with the primary focus on addressing problems that face youth; and WHEREAS, the Youth Action Summit provides a vehicle for youth to create strong, compassionate and resilient communities where people are safe, secure and prepared to meet the challenges of life; and WHEREAS, each school group works to plan and to implement a project; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii Community Foundation (HCF) has awarded five thousand dollars ($5,000) to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to support activities planned at their Na Leo O Na 'Opio Youth Action Summit; and WHEREAS, the funds will be allocated among the participating schools to assist with the implementation of their projects; and WHEREAS, the HCF funds are derived from the Group 70 Foundation Fund, which was established by individuals of Group 70 International, Inc. , a Hawaii architectural firm; and WFIER~~4S, ,Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or dor~atioris of money, securities, or other personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate.
