Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 313, reports as follows:
Communication No. 313, transmitted by Director of Finance William "Takaba, dated June 16, 2005.
authorizes the acceptance of monetary donations from the Bay Area Tlorticulharal Society and
Mrs. Lorraine Thompson.
The Bay Area Horticultural Society has graciously donated $100 to the Department of Parks and
Recreation to he used for programs at the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo, in gratitude for the special botanical
tour in February 2005.
Mrs. Lorraine Thompson has graciously donated $30 to the Department of Parks and Recreation to be
used for maintenance and improvements of the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.
Pursuant to Article XI[I, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter. the Council, on behalf of the Counri~,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift
which does not tall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall he submitted
to the Council by letter fbr its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Bay Area Horticultural Society at 6556 Shattuck Avenue,
Oakland, California 94609; and Mrs. Lorraine "Thompson at 1097 Kulamao Place. Hilo, Hawaii 96720,
acknowledging their generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of $100 from the Bay Area Horticultural
Society and $30 from Mrs. Lorraine Thompson to the County of Hawaii Department of Parks and
Recreation.
