The FFY OS NSIP grant awazd is based on Hawaii's percentage of FFY 04 meals served nationwide by other states and Indian Tribal Organizations. Hawaii's final FFY OS NSIP awazd will be based on FFY 04 meal counts from each state. The remaining 25% of the award is expected allocated in late August or early September 2005, after meal counts and award amounts are finalized. Each State's meal count must be the same as what is being reported in the State Program Report (SPR), so please continue to monitor the accuracy of your monthly counts and register as many participants as is possible. It is important to note that the meal count for FFY 04 of 914,655 is 2,612 meals less than the FFY 03 meal count of 917,267. Based on the initial FFY OS allocation, we are projecting a small decrease in Hawaii's NSIP award. So as the number and percent of meals served decrease, our annual award may also decrease. This initial NSIP award of $394,569 will be distributed among the four counties, based on each county's percentage of meals reported for FFY 04 from October 1, 2003 to September 30, 2004. If a county's FFY 04 monthly meal count changes due to a discrepancy with the SPR count, EOA will adjust each county's allocation accordingly.
