Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 128-05, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 128-05, transmitted by Assistant Corporation Counsel Gerald Takase, via
Communication No. 345, dated July 5, 2005, authorizes the County of Hawai`i to enter into
multi-year contracts for an Electronic Legal Research service for the Office of the Corporation
Counsel.

The Office of the Corporation Counsel wishes to enter into a three-year lease contract for the
services. Funds would be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated costs.
Pursuant to Section 10-11, Hawai`i County Charter, any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal
year must be approved by resolution.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 128-05
and recommends its adoption.
