Our support is based on the following 1. The construction of the Sort Station is not in lieu of the future construction of a high tech, environmentally friendly East Hawaii Refuse Plant. 2. This Sort Station will prolong the life of the current landfill allowing the County more time to select the appropriate technology for a Refuse Plant, at the appropriate cost. 3. The Sort Station would reduce the number of refuse vehicles on the road should the County need to haul refuse to West Hawaii until the new Refuse Plant is completed. 4. The anticipated cost of the Sort Station is justifiable when compared to the increase cost to individual tax payers and businesses that will be associated with hauling refuse to West Hawaii until an East Hawaii Refuse Plant is constructed. Once again, The Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii support the proposed financing of an East Hawaii Regional Sort Station. Respectfully submitted, ~ Dwayne T.
