SUBJECT: Resolution Regazding Ninth Circuit Court
I signed the document requesting a suspension of council rules to have the
resolution heazd at full council August 17, supporting efforts to have the recent Doe vs.
Kamehameha Schools/Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estate CA# 04-15044, reheazd en banc by
the 9`s circuit court of appeals. I will be out of state and unable to be present for the
discussion, but I wanted to lend my full support for the resolution, which I have read via
a fax copy.
I feel that Kamehameha Schools is a private educational institution and has every
right to admit only students of Hawauan ancestry. I certainly hope my colleagues will
support this measure. Thank you.
