Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members: -
It is my pleasure to nominate Kaloa Robinson of Council District 3 to the County
of Hawaii Police Commission. Mr. Robinson is a 39-year resident of Hawaii who
is currently the Executive Director of Hui Malama Ola Na 'Oiwi. From 1996 to
2001, he worked as a Recruitment Specialist for the Native Hawaiian Center of
Excellence, John A. Burns School of Medicine. He worked as a Special and
Legislative Assistant to U. S. Senator Daniel K. Akaka in Washington, DC from
1989 to 1995, and prior to that, worked as a Precinct Operations Specialist and
Community Liaison for the State of Hawaii.
Mr. Robinson is presently a board member of the Ka 'Umeke Ka'eo Hawaiian
Language Immersion Charter School, the Friends of'lolani Palace, and the
Hawaii Primary Care Association. He states that he is a Democrat. If confirmed,
Mr. Robinson will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007. He will replace
Mr. Paul DeSilva, who resigned.
