Kaneshiro is a 50+-year resident of Hawaii. Mr. Kaneshiro retired in 2003 from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service where he worked as a State Conservationist for nine years. He is presently a member of the Hamakua Lions Club, and has served as past president for the Aiea Lions Club, the Hawaii Lions Foundation and the Okinawan Club. Mr. Kaneshiro states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007. Council District 2 -Laura C. Schuster is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Ms. Schuster is the Cultural Resident Manager at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and prior to that was the Resource Manager at Kaloko Honokohau Historic National Park. She currently is a board member of the Boys and Girls Club and the Hawaii Museum Association. Ms. Schuster states that she is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2009. Council District 3 -Ruth Walker is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Since 1988, she has worked at Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council as a specialist with the Language Arts Multi- cultural Program. She is currently the president of the HGEA Retirees Association, and the past president of the Hawaii Island Retired Teachers Association. Ms. Walker states that she is a Democrat and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2008. Council District 4 -Benedict A. L. Yung is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Yung retired from the Hawaii Electric Light Company in 2003, where he worked for eight years. He presently is a U.H. Hilo student, and does part-time work with Aha Punana Leo. Mr. Yung states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007. Council District 5 -Paul H. Campbell is a 25-year resident of Hawaii. Mr. Campbell has worked as a Montessori teacher and also as a lifeguard. He is currently a member of the Sierra Club. Mr. Campbell states that he is a Democrat and will serve a term to expire on !,/Z' December 31, 2008. Comm. t'o. Ref. Replogle is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Replogle is currently the Field Coordinator for The Nature Conservancy. His prior work experience was in the ranching industry as a Ranch Manager, herdsman and cowboy. Mr. Replogle is presently a member of the Na Ala Hele Trail Council and the Hawaii Island Land Trust, and was formerly a Scout Master. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006. Council District 7 -Jocelyn Garovoy has lived in Hawaii for 1'/= years. Ms. Garovoy is an attorney with Cades Schutte LLP, specializing in land use. She states that she is also a conservation biologist and has previously worked as a program assistant at the Marine Conservation Biology Institute, and a research assistant at the University of Maine. Ms. Garovoy is a board member of the Hawaii Island Land Trust, and a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, Young Lawyer's Division. She states that she is a Democrat and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2009. Council District 8 -Hannah K. Springer is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Ms. Springer is a self employed ethnographer. From 1996 to 2000, she was a Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. She is presently the First Vice Chair of the Hawaii County Planning Commission, the Co-Chair of the West Hawaii Fishery Council, a member of the Kahu Ku Mauna and a past trustee of The Nature Conservancy Hawaii. Ms. Springer states that she is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010. Council District 9 - E. Kalani Flores is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Flores is currently a Hawaiian Studies Instructor at Hawaii Community College, UH Center at West Hawaii, and since 1983 has lectured and taught at various colleges, schools and programs statewide, as well as coordinating many educational programs for Native Hawaiian Children. He is presently a Hawaii Island representative on the Native Hawaiian Historic Preservation Council of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and a committee member of the Pohakuloa Training Area Cultural Advisory Committee. Mr. Flores states that he is not affiliated with any political party and will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2010.
