• Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 412, reports as follows:

Communication No. 412, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
August 25, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Ms. Shirley A. Lea.
Ms. Shirley A. Lea has graciously donated a large clock to the Department of Parks and
Recreation to display the time for the patrons and staff of the Kona Community Aquatic Center.
The value of this donation is estimated at $50.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter,the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawai`i County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Shirley A. Lea, 893 East Frederick Avenue, Fresno,
CA 93720-2559, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the large clock from Ms. Shirley A. Lea
to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
