No. 159-05 PLACE: Council Chambers • TIME: 12:00 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, I-iawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 159-05, reports as follows: Resolution No. 159-05, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 144 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 416, dated August 25, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Hawai`i Metal Recycling Company. The Hawai`i Metal Recycling Company has graciously donated $2,400 to the Hawai`i County Police Department to be used by the Kealakehe Police Station. Pursuant to Article XiII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Hawai`i Metal Recycling Company, 91-056 Hanua Street, Campbell Industrial Park, Kapolei, Hawai`i 96707, acknowledging this generous donation. Assistant Police Chief Ronald Nakamichi explained that earlier this year, "waste material dust" blew from the Kailua-Kona dumpsite onto vehicles parked at the Kealakehe Police Station. The • Hawai`i Metal Recycling Company gave the Hawai`i Police Department a check to cover vehicle damages; however, there were no claims made, so the Police Department returned the check. Shortly thereafter, Hawai`i Metal Recycling Company sent the donation of$2,400 to the Kealakehe Police Station to be used as they wish.
