EAST HAWAII SORT STATION activities; total funding of $6.2 million
Honorable Chair and Members of the Council:
As a citizen of Hawaii County, I have participated in many public forums during the last 15 years. Oftentimes,
these issues can be contentious, but I have great admiration for our ability as island peoples to resolve our
differences amicably. So to with this case, and the excellent compromise measure of $6.2 million proposed by
Councilmember Isbell, and supported by 8 out of 9 Councilmembers. While I understand that there is still some
concern over the measure, I join hundreds of citizens, civic leaders, community organizations and individuals who
have encouraged your support for this measure.
Although I am unable to attend in person due to a schedule conflict, I have already indicated my interest and
willingness to assist the Council, the Administration, and the HIEDB partnership effort in ensuring the successful
implementation of this plan. It is the right thing to do, and absolutely the right time.
Thank you for the opportunity to submit these comments.
