It seems to me that hauling trash in the order of 93 truckloads per day is 1. Gnviromentally irresponsible because of nosie, trafftc congestion and of course putting more pollutants in the air, and 2. Financially irresponsible. It is a costly short term fix because of rising energy prices, and truck drivers wages, AND it does nothing to really fix the problem of where to put our trash. West Hawaii landfill will also be full one day. Please consider the full sort station with recycling center option. It makes sense environmentally and it will help to reduce the tonage at landfills over the long term. Right now it is the best option. ]ncineration has it's own problems, like pollution. City governments all over the country have adopted full recycling programs and we are one of the last to do so. Wouldn't it be prudent of Hawaii County to jump on that bandwagon? Our Island is not getting any less populated and recycling is the only real solution right now!
