RE: Administration Presentation on County of Hawaii Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
Dear Mayor Kim:
The County of Hawaii recently received approval of our Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan
from the Federal F,mergency Management Agency pursuant to the requirements of the federal
Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. I understand that the County of Hawaii Multi-Hazard
Mitigation Plan covers hazard analysis, risk and vulnerability analysis, a mitigation strategy and
the planning process and update procedures.
I invite you and your administration, including the Civil Defense Agency, the Police
Department, the Fire Department and the Department of Public Works, to make a joint
presentation to the Council Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation to inform the
Council Members and the public on the role of the County in preparing for disasters and
improving our readiness to protect and reduce the effects on our island's electrical, water,
communication and other vital systems.
