RE~OLU°TION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUN®S OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR ANi~ OF
MORE KHAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR ONE (1) LAN®FILL COMPACTOR
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation
requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or more than one fiscal year be
approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, both Hilo and West Hawaii landfills have one (1) existing Caterpillar landfill compactor; and
WHEREAS, the new landfill compactor, to be used at the West Hawaii landfill, is needed to maximize
compaction of the trash, to reduce the airspace in the waste, and to be in compliance with Department of Health
regulations; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a five (5) year contract to lease with purchase options for
one (1) landfill compactor for solid waste operations at the West Hawaii landfill.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED ~Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five (5) year lease agreement with purchase options for the
acquisition of one (1) landfill compactor for solid waste operations at the West Hawaii landfill and that sufficient
funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the
agreement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk transmit copies of this resolution to the Mayor's Office and
the Departments of Finance and Environmental Management.
