Re: Acceptance of Donations
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which authorizes
the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code, which states that any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance
shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the
following donations:
Two (2) Nigerian Dwarf Goats and One (1) Pot Belly Pig (estimated total value of $250) to the
Department of Parks & Recreation, to be used as petting zoo animals for the Children's
Petting Zoo at the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo, by the Friends of the Zoo, P.O. Box 738,
Kea`au, Hawaii 96720.
Thirty-two (32) cubic yards of cinder (estimated total value of $261.68) to the Department of
Parks & Recreation, to be used for the beautification of Kahakai Park in Hawaiian Beaches,
by Sanford's Service Center Inc., Mr. Sanford Iwata, P.O. Box 1321, Pahoa, Hawaii 96778.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donors.
