RESOLUTION NO. 188 U5
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND MORF. THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR AMULTI-YEAR LEASE OF
REAL PROPERTY FOR THE OFFICF. OF THE COUNTY COUNCIL-CLERK.
WHEREAS. Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or
other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year and
more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the County Council-Clerk finds that it must move out of the
County 33uilding due to the massive capital improvements being proposed by the Department of
Public Works related to reroofing improvements and asbestos removal for a period of at least
twenty-four months; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council tnds that uncertainty of the construction
period, and the unknown schedule for phasing each of the eight wings during the capital project
coupled with the perceived risk of asbestos removal warrant a planned move of its employees to
a publicly convenient environmentally safe and comfortable work place; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds budgeted in the current fiscal year to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the lease agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Flawai'i County Council wishes to enter into a one (1) year lease with
BI' Hilo Partners for the 6.871 square feet of office space located at the 333 Kilauea Street, IIilo,
Hawaii, 96720, at an approximate cost of $1 1,452.00 per month, including taxes.
NOW, THERF,FORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII:
1 . 'That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into amulti-year lease agreement for
office space for the Hawaii County Council.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated
obligations of the County under the lease agreement.
BE I'T F'URThIEIi RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the
Department of Finance and the Office of the County Clerk.
