Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 428, reports as follows:
Communication No. 428, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
September 1, 2005, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Ms. Margaret Bazin.
Ms. Margaret Bazin has graciously donated two weedeaters to the Department of Parks and
Recreation to be used by Parks Maintenance employees to maintain gravesites and boundaries at
`Alae Cemetery. The value of this donation is estimated at $875.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Margaret Bazin, HCR 3 Box 11079, Kea`au, Hawaii
96749, acknowledging this generous donation.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the two weedeaters from
Ms. Margaret Bazin to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
