RE: Communication 463, Bill 156; October 17, 2005 Committee Meeting
Testimony
Dear Council Members,
I urge you not to support Bill 156 amending Chapter 11, Article 1,
Section 11-4(D) for the following reasons:
1 The County is experiencing a labor shortage now and does not need to
provide Incentives to industrial enterprises to create more jobs.
2. We need industrial developers to contribute more to affordable housing
and infrastructure instead of giving them credits for creating more of a
housing shortage and adding to the traffic with the new jobs they will
create and more off island workers moving to the Big Island to fill their
positions.
3. It is not fair to other types of developers to give industrial developers
this kind of leniency
4. We don't need this change now- We need more affordable housing
and infrastructure now.
Affordable housing credits should only be given for building affordable
housing.
