Re: PRESENTATION REGARDING SPECIAL EVET`JT HONORING THE U.S. ARMY'S
ls` and 2nd FILIPINO INFANTRY REGIMENTS AND TO INFORM COUNCIL
MEMBERS ABOUT THE UPCOMING YEAR-LONG FILIPINO CENTENNIAL
CF,LF,BRATION WHICH BEGINS IN DECEMBER 2005.
On Veteran's Day, Friday, November 11, 2005, there will be a special showing of "An Untold
Triumph". This documentary honors all veterans and pays a special tribute to the men who
served in the is' and 2na Filipino Infantry Regiments. There were approximately 39 young men
from the Big Island who served in the two regiments; 22 of wlhom are still living.
I have asked Carol Brown and Lorraine Godoy, coordinators of the above event, to come before
the Council for a brief informative presentation regarding the Veteran's Day event. They will
also provide the Council with information regarding the upcoming year-long Filipino Centennial
Celebration which begins in December 2005.

RE: Communication No. 500 :Regarding Presentation to Inform Council members
About an Upcoming Special Event and the Year-Long Filipino Centennial Celebration
That Will Commence in December 2005.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
