Re: Operating Budget
The Hawaii County Fire Department has been awarded a $406,016 Grant from the U.S.
Department of Homeland Security and the Office for Domestic Preparedness' FY 2005
Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. This grant will be used to purchase and install
venting systems for all of the department's fire stations. These vehicle exhaust removal
systems should reduce or eliminate the fire personnel's exposure to exhaust fumes generated
by fire apparatuses and ambulances.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the
Department of Homeland Security and the Office for Domestic Preparedness.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
$406,016 to the Assistance to Firefighters account.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawaii County Fire Department.
