States that after the tree tell, it was examined by Parks Maintenance staff who determined that 90 percent of the trunk was reduced to soft cellulose by termites. Because of pedestrian and vehicle safety hazard, the department proceeded with emergency removal of the tree. The Arborist Advisory Committee agreed with the emergency removal at its meeting of October 20, 2005.
