I am in the process of compiling a report summarizing the benefits and effectiveness of
the National Association of Counties' international exchanges over the past 10 years. Qs
part of the repon, I would like tc include a section discussing the benefits your county
experienced as a result ofthe "sister county" relationships you have with: Cheju Island,
Korea; Hue-Lien County, China; Legaspi, Philippines; Mackay, Australia; Nago,
Okinawa, Japan; Oshima Island. Japan; and Sao Miguei Island, Portugal. Tn order to
complete this section, however, I need your help.
1 am interested in leazning hsw_ your county has benefitted from these exchanges. Has
your county experienced any economic, cultural, or other gains as a result? if possible,
please fax or mail me your comments by Thursday, Sept. 18. I apologize for the short
notice, but would really appreciate receiving your feedback
When complete, this report will be used to help NACo plan upcoming exchanges that are
effective and beneficial for everyone involved. !t will also be used as a tool for counties
attempting to develop sister county relationships.
