Maka'ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720. These funds, donated as part of Wal-Mart Hilo's "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, will be used towards the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention Week and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the $2,250 monetary donation into the Fire Department's Fire Protection and Fire Prevention OCE accounts. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Wal-Mart Hilo, through its "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program has donated monies totaling $2,250 to the Hawaii County Fire Department. The funds are to be used to purchase educational materials to be distributed to the public. $1,000 is earmarked for fire prevention, and $1,250 for health related issues. The bulk of these materials will be distributed during Fire Prevention Week in the month of October, and EMS Week (Emergency Medical Services) in the month of May.
