Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the North Kona Connector Road project for
$500,000 to the Capital Budget. Through fair share assessment contributions, the project
funds will be used for the acquisition, construction, improvements and/or ancillary costs
associated with the development of four connector roads that lie between the Kona
Coastview/Wonderviewavd Kona Palisades subdivisions. This project will develop and
improve interconnectivity between the subdivisions and will reduce traffic on the Kuakini
Highway and its intersection with these two subdivisions. The four road connections are
Nana-Holoholo, Ahi'ahi-Kauhale, Holu-Ko`oke'o, and `Ili'ili-Ki`ek'ie.

A. REQUEST:
Amend Ordinance 05-87, the Capital Budget by adding an appropriation for:
North Kona Connector Roads $ 500,000.00
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Public Works would like to use the funds to acquire and construct four connector roads that lie
between the Kona Coastview/Wonderviewavd Kona Palisades subdivisions to develop
interconnectivity between the subdivisions and to reduce traffic on the Kuakini Highway and its
intersection with these two subdivisions. The four road connections are: Nana-Holoholo, Ahi'ahi-
Kauhale, Holu-Ke'oke'o, Ili'ili-Kiekie.
The money would be used for acquisition, construction, improvements and ancillary costs associated
with the development of these roadways which will improve traffic flow in the North Kona region.
