RESOLUTION AUTFIORI~ING TH1= ACCEPTANCE OF A 11PIONETARY ®ONATION OF $2,250 TO THE
HAWAII COUNTY FIRE DEPAIZTf;;~1=N1`
WHEREAS, Wal-Mart Hilo, as part of their "Safe Neighborhood Grant" program, has donated monies
totaling $2,250 to the Hawaii County Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this donation. $1,000 for fire prevention and $1,250 for health related issues, will be used
for the purchase of educational materials to be distributed to the public in commemoration of Fire Prevention
Week in the month of October and of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in the month of May; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, ~E IT RESOLVED 13Y THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts the $2,250.
13E IT FURTHER RESOLVEC? that a letter of appreciation be sent to Mr. Terrance Crowley, Manager,
Wal-Mart Hilo, 325 E. Maka`ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
