Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individuals to the
County of Hawaii Mayor's Committee on the Status of Women:
Council District 1 - Ms. Ellen Takazawa is a 40-year resident of Hawaii who works as
a parent facilitator at Kalanianaole School. She is a member of the Family and
Community Education Association. She formerly served as president of the
Kalanianaole School PTA and president and leader of the 4-H Federation.
Ms. Takazawa states that she is not affiliated with any political party. This term, which is
a reappointed term from January, 2004, will expire on December 31, 2009.
Council District 3 -Nancy Kelly is a 48-year resident of Hawaii and is the Business
Manager at the County of Hawaii Prosecuting Attorney's Office. She currently is the
Vice President and Secretary of the Hilo High School Foundation, and has served in the
past as president and board member of the Hawaii Swimming Club of Hilo. Ms. Kelly
states that she is a member of the Democratic Party. She will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2009.
