Dear Chairman Arakaki:
Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed County
Charter Amendment relative to the Salary Commission. The proposal, as we
understand it, would provide for the Salary Commission determining the
appropriate salaries for certain county executives.
This is to inform you that at its August 27, 1997 meeting, the Salary Commission
agreed in concept with the proposed charter amendment. Please keep us
apprised as to when the proposal will be placed on the County Council's
agenda.
If we can be of any assistance at all, please call Mike Ben at 961-8361. Mr. Ben
will also be available to provide you with any assistance.
