SAFE COMMUNITY HIGHWAY SAFETY PROGRAM
QUARTERLY REPORT
PROJECT' TITLE: HCYD YOUTH DETERRENCE/ALOS-02 (07-H-Ol )
Priority Area: I Area: Alcolwl Countermeasures
The goal of this project is to reduce the number of alcohol related traffic fatalities
involving the under 21 driver by apprehending potential under-aged drunk drivers before
they operate a motor vehicle and by deterring under-aged drinking and driving.
I . Affect approximatel} 140 arrests of persons under the age of 21 for violations of
liquor laws.
Z. Affect approximately 70 arrests of persons under the age of 21 for other violations.
3. Conduct approximately 30 operations to ;;eting Rave Party incidents or large
gatherings in public places.
4. Conduct enforcement during major holidays, graduation, during summer months and
other periods as deemed necessary.
5, hlcrease contacts with youth under the age of 21.
The Statewide Traffic Commanders Coalition has agreed that youth deterrence projects
should be coordinated statewide.
GRAN"t PERIOD RESULTS

• Conducted 4 enforcement projects in the fourth quarter.
Conducted 3l enforcement projects for the fiscal year.
• Arrested 16 persons under dte age of 21 for liquor eioiations, and 24 arrests of
persons under the age of 21 for other violations during the fourth quarter.
Affected 30 arrests of persons under the age of 21 for liquor violations and 35
arrests of persons under the age of 21 for other violations for the fiscal year.
• 1 arrests of adults for liquor violations in the fourth quarter.
Affected 14 arrests of adults for liquor violations and 4 arrests for other
violations for the fiscal year.
A total of 114 persons under the xge of 21 were arrested in county xnd grant
funded operations.
